An accredited colposcopist with the British and Singaporean colposcopy societies (BSCCP & SCCPS), Dr. Ida is currently President of SCCPS. She moved to Singapore in 2013, joining National University Hospital (NUH) as lead colposcopist, where she streamlined the gynaecological cancer screening services. A pioneer in HPV testing, she introduced HPV DNA testing at NUH in 2014, making NUH the first hospital in Singapore to adopt HPV primary screening. Her leadership led to her appointment as Chair of the Cervical Screen Singapore Implementation and Guideline Review Committee, where she updated national screening guidelines recently to include HPV testing using vaginal self-sampling in Singapore.
Internationally recognized for her expertise in HPV-related diseases, Dr. Ida co-created and co-directs the International Gynaecology Cancer Society (IGCS) Preinvasive Certificate Program, training doctors worldwide, particularly in low-resource settings. She also leads the International Papillomavirus Society’s (IPVS) Project ECHO, facilitating global expert discussions on HPV management. Additionally, she is the Secretary and founding member of the Asia Pacific HPV Coalition, advocating for improved cervical cancer prevention in the region through research and policy.
Dr. Ida’s work bridges clinical practice, education, and policy, significantly advancing cervical cancer prevention locally and globally. Her dedication to women’s health has established her as a key leader in obstetrics, gynaecology, and HPV-related disease management.
