Dr. Ai Ling Tan is a gynaecological oncologist who trained in Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. She earned her Certificate in Gynaecological Oncology (CGO) in Australia, following formal subspecialty training in the field.
A founding trustee of the New Zealand Gynaecological Foundation, Ai Ling is a committed advocate for raising awareness and advancing the prevention of gynaecological cancers. She emphasizes education and open communication with both the public and medical communities to inspire meaningful change. As an active member of Global Women, she supports their mission to enhance New Zealand's social and economic progress by championing diversity in leadership.
Ai Ling’s dedication to global health is evident through her collaboration with specialists in developing regions. As a mentor for the International Gynaecologic Cancer Society (IGCS) Training Program for the Pacific, she played a pivotal role in facilitating the training of the first gynaecological oncologist in Fiji. This program will expand further in Fiji and Papua New Guinea. Her leadership has been instrumental in enhancing surgical expertise and promoting cervical cancer prevention and care in the region.
Her long-term vision includes establishing a Women's Cancer Centre in the Pacific, staffed by local specialists and supported by international volunteers, to sustainably improve cancer care in the region.
In addition to her clinical and advocacy work, Ai Ling serves on the board of the Asia-Oceania Research Organisation in Genital Infections and Neoplasia (AOGIN) and is a member of the Gynaecological Oncology Committee of the Asia and Oceania Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (AOFOG).
